Eating Healthy, Eating with CBD : The New Trends

Integrate CBD into your recipes for a healthy and beneficial diet.

Nutrition professionals and "healthy eating" enthusiasts recommend a variety of foods for a more balanced diet. They advise us to eat 5 fruits and vegetables a day, to use unsaturated vegetable fats, and to favour natural products*. Recently, an ingredient in the form of a food supplement has been added to this list, CBD : an extract from hemp that can be eaten in lots of different ways !

Does CBD have an impact on health?

CBD is one of the many natural non-psychoactive chemical compounds found in hemp leaf. It is recognized by specialists as having anti-inflammatory, anti-spasmodic, stress-relieving and sleep promoting properties, without side effects or addiction. In the form of oil or crystals, CBD can easily be integrated into recipes for a balanced intake of omega 3 and 6, beneficial to the arteries. In short, it is a concentrate of well-being, and just like fruits and vegetables, it is its regular consumption that would bring you results and benefits.

How to cook with CBD ?

CBD is available in various food products: oils, sparkling water, pasta, capsules, candies, chewing gum, coffee, cookies... and the list keeps growing because this natural extract is now in vogue. The most common way to incorporate it into your small dishes is by using oil. Slightly bitter, it enhances sweet and sour recipes and cakes.

What do experts think ?

According to a study by the American National Restaurant Association Foundation (which represents more than 380,000 establishments), herbal ingredients such as CBD, and waste-free cooking are the culinary trends of 2019.

At the moment, most restaurateurs that offer CBD-based dishes incorporate it into salads, sauces and drinks. Fashionable coffees have added lattes, herbal teas or non-alcoholic cocktails to their menus at CBD.
According to Greg Hanger, head of the Kalifornia Kitchen in London, CBD oil goes very well with coriander, ginger, lime or rosemary. He uses it in his Thai sweet and savoury recipes, in mashed potatoes, cheese sauces or hummus.

Tips for cooking with CBD

  • Use good quality CBD oil: like any food product, quality is essential for flavour but also for health effects.
  • Start by incorporating it in small amounts, for example by adding a few drops to your vinaigrettes or smoothies.
  •  Do not overheat CBD oil, because just like olive oil, overcooking will reduce its efficiency and may alter its taste.

In short,

CBD is an ingredient that awakens your taste buds and promises a feeling of well-being with every bite for the whole family. In addition to its benefits, it brings a beautiful gustatory note to your dishes and opens new perspectives for modern cuisine and gastronomy.  Get your pots and pans ready, and CBDize!
