Differences between full-spectrum CBD and CBD isolate

Differences between full-spectrum CBD and CBD isolate

When buying CBD-based products you will notice that some display the term "isolate" and others "full spectrum" or "full-spectrum". These terms are not part of our everyday life and can be a source of misunderstanding. You may have been hesitant to buy CBD simply because you were wondering: what is the difference between CBD isolate and full-spectrum CBD oil, for example? Is it the same product? Does one have more effect than the other? In this article we will try to make this clearer so that you can get CBD with peace of mind.

What is CBD isolate?

The isolate is rarely, if ever, found alone in nature. For example, there are more than 600 carotenoids in the carotenoid family. Beta-carotene is never found alone; it is always found within other carotenoids, flavonoids and other phytochemicals. With this "entourage", beta-carotene is very active, but when chemically isolated from its natural environment, its results are rather disappointing.
The same is true for CBD and its entourage, which includes several hundred active compounds. The CBD isolate is therefore a molecule that has been separated from the other plant chemicals in hemp called terpenes, flavonoids and cannabinoids.

The CBD isolate can also be artificially produced in the laboratory. Isolating a compound from its natural environment allows pharmaceutical companies to conduct extensive research on a single component. The CBD isolate is important for research and development, but when purchasing CBD products, prefer full spectrum products that are much more effective.

What is full spectrum CBD?

A full-spectrum CBD oil, for example, will not only contain CBD, but also the plant chemicals: terpenes, flavonoids and cannabinoids that are part of its environment and boost its effect. This is known as the entourage effect.
The entourage effect means that each individual element participates in creating a synergy, thus amplifying the benefits of the product.
To schematise the process a little more, imagine a street artist singing a capella without a microphone and accompanied by a guitar, then an artist singing on the stage of an opera accompanied by a symphony orchestra and all the acoustic effects available. You will agree that the second one will have a greater sound impact, won't you?

In short, buying CBD oil should not seem complicated. Choose a full-spectrum product for greater efficiency. And to keep in mind the difference between isolate and full spectrum, think of the poor singer who gets lost in drafts while the artist at the opera gives his best in an optimized environment.
